"sly as a fox" is an idiom in English which means that the animal is clever. Sly is a good synonym for "cunning" :)

:):) funny:):) foxes are not sly... they're smart as are all God's creatures... sly implies furtiveness, lack of candor, and skill in concealing one's aims and methods. Nothing can be further from the truth... foxes are extremely clever and skillful but only in regards to their prey or, they'd be called a dumb fox and would starve to death on that account:) just a gentle reminder of existing misnomers in our language.
