Knickers, an enormous steer in the state of Western Australia who has avoided the slaughterhouse by being too big, became a media sensation late in the year (prompting many to leap forth to explain the difference between "cow" and "steer"). The huge animal stands six-foot-four at the shoulder (194 cm), and is believed to be the tallest steer in Australia.
