O giganotossauro eram grandes carnivoros caçavam até enormes argentinossauros mas em bandos de 5 ou mais. Foi nomeado por Ruben Carollini um caçador de fósseis amador que o descobriu em 1995 proximo ao rio Limay,na Patagônia, Argentina.
