Comments for "I think it's an Eaglet....."

that would take a LOT more work.....
ok....the only way to upload the original correctly is to crop the bottom.....ok by you guys?????
the head may be flattened a little because of resizing it.....

My sister identified the bird... then I went hunting for photographs of Brahminy Kites on line. I found a bunch of photos, and most importantly of all, I found THIS photo. I'll give you the link to it shortly.
In this picture, the bird is slightly flattened, so it's head looks wider than it should. I'm sure thats why Kathy and I thought it was an owl. :)

haven't heard back yet.....hawk sounds good....at least we know it's a raptor!!!!!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaahooooooooooooooooo! Thanks to my sister, I've found out that this bird is a Brahminy Kite. Another name for it is the Red Backed Sea Eagle!

I talked with my sister again, and now she thinks it is some kind of hawk. Hawks and eagle are closely related, so you were a good guesser when you didn't think it was an owl. :) :) :)

Hey, where did you go... Facebook? My sister just wrote back and She thinks it's an eagle too! Probably not from North America, but somewhere else.
Oh.... you are going to check on FB.... good idea! Somebody's gotta know, because somebody put a band on his right foot! :)

Well, as I said, the baby balds don't get the white head until they are old enough to fly and catch their own food. I know from watching National Geographic TV specials! :D If this IS some kind of eagle, it is not a bald eagle. His head is pretty big too, like an owl head would be. Just for fun, I'm going to try googling this bird.

I know...I'll go back to the post and ask what it is!!!!!
I can't tell....and there was nothing on the FB post....but it looks like a bald eagle baby to me!!!!
Gee. I think it's an owlet, but if it came to my 4th of July party in those feathers, I would think it was an eagle! lol One thing I do know is that immature bald eagles don't have white heads though. So, I will vote with Kathy and say that it's an Owl! :D f + 1 :)
PS. Maybe you should change the name of the wall to "Owl or Eagle?" :D :D :D
