It is the smallest breed in the world. The Chihuahua is named after the largest state in Mexico. Little is known of this race before its discovery in Mexico but is believed to date from the ninth century. In this region lived in the wild until it was captured and domesticated by the Indians during the epoch of civilization "Toltec". The Toltecs had a breed of dog called Techichi. According to the carvings on the stones of Huejotzingo showing full detail of a chihuahua dog very similar to modern, we can safely say that the Chihuahua is a direct descendant of the Toltec Techichi.
